guns

If the question implies that I’ll survive the shot, I’d rather get shot in the heart because I’d rather live with heart damage than brain damage. Otherwise, if I’m probably going to die either way, I think I’d rather get shot in the brain because the impact would probably knock me out instantly, which means I won’t have to suffer for long. Getting shot in the heart, it seems, is more likely to keep me conscious for long enough to realize and maybe even ponder the fact that I’m probably about to die.

A 15-year-old girl was shot in the chest and killed Saturday evening in Detroit and two others were injured.

The teen was with a 23-year-old woman on Cicotte Street about 6:45 p.m. when a man shot at the car they were in, hitting them both, said Sgt. Alan Quinn, Detroit police spokesman.

Ileana Cuevas of Detroit was pronounced dead at Henry Ford Hospital, and the 23-year-old was in temporary serious condition, officials said.

A third victim — a 25-year-old man — was in critical condition, police said. It’s unclear where he was when he was shot.

Police said the motive of the shooting is unknown.

Jonesboro Police claim a man who was searched, handcuffed, double-locked and bundled in the back of a patrol car shot himself in the head, an explanation the man’s mother dismisses as a cover-up for murder.

After officers claimed Chavis Carter was in possession of drugs, they searched him before handcuffing him and putting him in the back of a patrol car. The handcuffs were double-locked, making it harder for the lock to be picked.

Police then claim they heard a “thumping noise” before turning around to see Carter slumped on the back seat shot in the head.

“They’re still investigating but they think Chavis, somehow managed to pull out a hidden gun and shot himself in the head,” reports WREG Memphis, despite the fact that officers found no weapon on him during the search.

“I think they killed him, my son wasn’t suicidal,” said the man’s mother Teresa Carter.
She adds that Chavis was shot in the right temple and yet he is left-handed.

Carter also points out that Chavis called his girlfriend while pulled over and assured her that he would be in contact again when he got to jail.

The officer involved in the incident has been placed on leave pending an investigation.

Sergeant Lyle Waterworth attempted to deflect accusations of murder by claiming that officers could have easily missed the gun during the search.

“Any given officer has missed something on a search, be it drugs, knife, razor blades, this instance it happened to be a gun” said Waterworth.

However, that doesn’t explain why a man who was not suicidal was somehow able to put a gun to the side of his head and pull the trigger while handcuffed.

No. I wouldn’t take a bullet for, or allow a gun to shoot me in order to protect the life of, anyone. My life is too important to me to take that much of a risk for anyone else’s.

That means if I were standing somewhere and saw someone about to shoot the person next to me; my parent, my child, or whoever; I’d head in the opposite direction.

I’m not a bodyguard, I’m not a martyr, and I’m not a fool. I’d probably feel bad about a person I like or care about getting shot or getting killed, but I’d feel a lot worse dead.

Phone Booth ( movie )

It’s dialogue between a guy in a phone booth and his potential murderer that holds this movie together. The guy; a publicist who deceives people for a living; has a wife and a secret girlfriend whose lives are also on the line. At-least that’s what the guy on the line tells him. He also says that if he leaves the booth, he’ll shoot him from one of the windows in one of the buildings hovering above. To show he’s really there, he takes a shot at a toy robot just outside the booth.

It’s a clever and captivating concept, and the plot, which seems to run in real time, sticks with it all the way to the end. Almost every scene takes place at the phone booth with a frequent array of shaky zoom shots and split screening for visual stimulation. But the gunman’s motive is weak; he claims to be motivated by morality; and he doesn’t really demand anything in exchange for his victim’s life. So the mind game he plays starts to get a little redundant after a while.
