The Bank Job ... ( movie review )
![]() The "job" referred to in the title isn't a legal one. It's another heist movie, based on the true story of London's Baker Street bank robbery of 1971. The names of many of the people identified in this film have been changed to protect the guilty, along with much of what happened, but the gist remains the same. It's a movie that relies heavily on narrative clichés, as major plot revelations cued by dramatic orchestral music come and go at a moment's notice. Plus some of the actors act like they're acting in a movie and the character relations get rather confusing toward the end. But it's an interesting watch all the while. There's genuine suspense to be found; especially during scenes where the team of thief protagonists, led by Jason Statham as an indebted car salesman named Terry Leather, are almost caught on the job. For what it's worth, there's also a pretty bare-breasted girl within the first minute of the movie. 4 of 5 | |||
