" The Superbowl Shuffle " - The Chicago Bears
Back in the mid 1980s, the NFL's Chicago Bears decided to record a rap track. I assume after winning the Superbowl.
The fact that the actual team-members, most of which I'm guessing never picked up a mic before this, kick their own raps add a sense of ginuwine humor to the track (as what often happens when people who got no business rappin rap). The lyrical substance has them mostly braggin about their football skills (by the way, the word "ass" is bleeped out with a whistle), but it's their shameless lack of rappin skills (most lack any sense of flow or charisma) that'll put you on your back. The energetic beat, marked with a funky main melody and what sounds like bongos in stereo, is on-point. Peep the way the main melody comes in at the beginning while they're doing the hook. It's classic. Haha. Can't really say the same about the whole track though. My Rating: 4 (of 5) | |||
