audio review : Deeply Rooted ( album ) ... Scarface

Scarface claimed Emeritus would be his final album. Even at the time, I thought it was bullshit. A lot of rappers claim to retire only to return to the game. Scarface isn’t the first and probably won’t be the last. Still, while I would’ve much preferred a Geto Boys reunion, it’s good to hear him back.

When not in menace mode, shooting death threats at snitches and “crackers”, which makes him as racist as the (white) racists he stands against, his lyrics can be poignant. The best songs include God and two others I can’t factor in because they’re only included as Best Buy bonus tracks.

  1. Scarface is religious, i dont know about deeply though. But yeah, its a factor in his life. His lyrics can definitely be emotional, his touching poetry, moving narration and his voice combine to create that effect.

What i really want to address is you calling him racist? completely inaccurate. You probably would not understand if you are unable to see his perspective and the things he has been through. What you need to realize is that when he uses the term crackers, he is referring to racist white people. Don’t forget where the name came from. Oh and if you want rappers to stop talking about race?

Tell racist people to stop being racist, and black people will stop talking about it.

Oh and by the way, this is a garbage review, said nothing about the album but your best songs. Thats why i take time to actually critically listen to an album before i rush to write a review.

  2. When not in menace mode, shooting death threats at snitches and “crackers”, which makes him as racist as the (white) racists he stands against

Clearly written by someone who doesn’t know what being black in America is.

  3. Still, while I would’ve much preferred a Geto Boys reunion, it’s good to hear him back.

Scarface was the best part of The Geto Boys, I’m fine with him staying with the solo career.
