Van Leeuwen French Ice Cream : Campfire S’mores

Van Leeuwen French Ice Cream : Campfire S'mores

It’s a fun concept. Ice Cream and S’mores from an actual Campfire make for an otherwise impractical combination. It’s the (“toasted”) marshmallows that damper the experience. They simply don’t; that is specifically to say their gooey texture doesn’t; mesh well with Ice Cream. It would be much better without them.

Arby’s Crispy Fish Sandwich

Arby's Crispy Fish Sandwich

Arby’s Fish Sandwiches, which I prefer over their signature Roast Beef, are only available during a “limited time”; the Christian season known as Lent. This is the standard (Cheddarless) version and, thanks in part to its oversized triangle-shaped fillet, it swims among the best in fast food. Add extra tartar sauce or mayo to make it even better.

Icee Cereal

Icee Cereal

“Feel the freeze,” the catchphrase exclaims. This Cereal “cools your mouth as you eat”. It’s a gimmick that fits the concept; it’s based on those Icee slushies kids drink in the summer; but ultimately ruins the taste. That chalky antacid-like bit, which, ironically enough, starts to become nauseating, lingers long after you’re done eating.

Van Leeuwen French Ice Cream : Caramel Sticky Bun

Van Leeuwen French Ice Cream : Caramel Sticky Bun

This should be called Cinnamon Sticky Bun because it’s the taste of cinnamon, not Caramel, that nearly overwhelms your buds at first bite. It’s a sweet treat indeed, but the best part, especially when you eat your Ice Cream melted down to a lumpy goo as do I, is the additional of actual “cinnamon bun pieces”. Yummy.

Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs at Walmart

Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs at Walmart

These are Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs sold fresh, warm and ready to eat at, if you’re lucky, your local Walmart. You can usually find them at the deli or near the checkout area wrapped in aluminum foil. It’s good grab-and-go eating for anyone who likes hot dogs, at least when you add your favorite condiment; I prefer just mayo; free packets of which are usually available nearby.

IMUSA Electric Single Burner

IMUSA Electric Single Burner

With 1100 watts of power, this Burner, designed for use “at home, dorm or office”, makes a decent single-serving cooker. It’s a bit annoying how it turns on and off, presumably when it reaches a certain temperature, instead of running continuously, but it does its job. It’s perhaps even more handy as a small, albeit somewhat dangerous, space heater.

Van Leeuwen French Ice Cream : Dill Pickle

Van Leeuwen French Ice Cream : Dill Pickle

You might think this isn’t bad if you’re just tasting it as a sample, but the more you eat the worse it gets. Besides the sweetness of French Ice Cream, it really does taste like a Dill Pickle; the ingredients list includes vinegar; and that’s the problem. Pickles aren’t even good on their own. Why would I want one ruining my Ice Cream?
