video review : Total Recall

Douglas Quaid’s wife is hot, especially when she’s fighting up a sweat. He loses her, along with the normal life he thought he had, after going to Rekall, a corporation that sells fake vacation memories via brain implants. He chooses the Mars trip with the option of being a “secret agent”.

Things go wrong immediately and that’s when the adventure begins. It’s also when the confusion begins as Quaid tries to determine what’s real and what isn’t. The plot sometimes lapses to trite; the hero is prone to corny one-liners; but Total Recall is ultimately a trip that’s both fun and memorable.

video review : Robocop

A Robocop; a police officer that’s part man and part machine; isn’t a bad idea. Even given the technological malfunctions that are bound to happen, he still has many advantages over a regular person in a uniform. He also has superhuman strength. He’s able to bend the barrel of a gun with his bare hand, so the violent criminals of Detroit don’t stand much of a chance when he’s on the force.

This movie, a decent sci-fi action flick, also takes on his Frankenstein-esque psychological baggage. Murphy used to be a normal cop until he was gunned down by a street gang. Now he’s essentially dead with a brain replaced by computer codes, prime directives and dry humor, but he still has memories and emotions, which, along with an open mouth area, make him somewhat vulnerable.
